65 W Jackson Blvd Chicago, IL 60604Description
On Tuesday, November 28, the Union League Club of Chicago's Public Affairs Committee and its Subcommittee on Race Relations, in partnership with the Univ. of Illinois at Chicago's Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy (IRRPP), presents a forum examining the history and consequences of racial inequities in Chicago. IRRPP's mission is "to increase society's understanding of the root causes of racial and ethnic inequality and to provide the public and policymakers with research-based policy solutions."
This discussion builds upon IRRPP's recent report, "A Tale of Three Cities: The State of Racial Justice in Chicago." Our program features presentations by a distinguished panel of historians who will discuss their findings and engage in a dynamic conversation about how race relations have shaped the city's past, present, and future.
Our panelists for this forum are:
-
Adam Green, University of Chicago
-
Barbara Ransby, University of Illinois at Chicago
-
Elizabeth Todd-Breland, University of Illinois at Chicago
-
Lilia Fernández, Rutgers University
Our forum begins with registration at 4:30 p.m., followed by the program at 5:00 and adjournment by 6:30; light refreshments and snacks will be offered. While this forum is presented on a complimentary basis, advance registration is required and space is limited. Please note: the Union League Club of Chicago maintains a "business casual" dress code (i.e., no jeans/denim of athletic wear, please). For more information, contact the Public Affairs office at (312) 435-5946.
